If values-driven teachers needed another reason to dump their memberships in the National Education Association, here it is. According to the Department of Labor, the NEA gave $300,000 of its union dues to the scandal-plagued ACORN outfit in 2007 alone.

This illustrates just how out of touch the NEA is with the worldview of the average American teacher it claims to represent. It’s long past time for teachers to dump their membership in the NEA and its aggressive support for far left causes and organizations, and join organizations such as the AAE which focus just on liability protections and professional improvement and refuse to use association fees or dues to support political causes of any kind. This leaves the educator free to donate – or not donate - to the political causes of his choice.

I just dumped my NEA Membership. The cost is too high to be apart of that Union....they do not represent my values and culture anymore. I am encouraging others in my school and district to do the same. Many of us were upset with the Socialist Organization before....NOW were mad!

The NEA should be investigated and lose its support but here is another case of left wing loons using dues against the average member who pays dues. I wonder, are the dues payers being extorted?

When my wife and I learned of the NEA support of Planned Parenthood we left the teaching profession. Acorn fits right in with the NEA radically stupid policies. The NEA does not care about anything except their own power and money.

I number among friends many teachers... and I don't personally know ONE that adheres to the philosophy advanced by ACORN on any front. Nor do they now (whether they did in the past or not) approve of the actions and direction taken by the present Administration.

Amen

If teachers will speak out about the NEA and then get out, NEA will go the way of ACORN.

Absolutely dump their membership. ACORN not only should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted but shut down completely. Also watched that they don't comeback in another form under another name. Remeber, we are dealing with really slick and slimey people here!
