Copenhagen: Someone is getting greedy

Last week’s trip to Copenhagen revealed a kink in President Obama’s armor that is rarely exposed by the media these days.  It revealed that the President is a living, walking, breathing contradiction of his own agenda.  And the price tag on such an extravagant trip might just be more Americans catching wise to his antics.  The trip was apparently so important that Mrs. Obama had to fly her own private jet to Copenhagen all of one day before the President flew Air Force One ½ way around the planet.  They stayed in the most extravagant of hotels on the U.S. tax dollar and had a grand old time.  As Mark Levin articulated last week, here’s why it doesn’t work.

President Obama’s administration is targeting so-called greenhouse gas emissions with a passion.  From the exhaust of your car, to the Carbon Dioxide you exhale, He is working to reduce your impact on the environment and tax what impact you do have.  What hasn’t been easily exposed is that this so-called Cap and Trade Legislation (aka Cap and Tax, Cap and Death) is meant to pay for the extreme shortcomings of the healthcare reform that seems imminent this year.  But, as Mark Levin pointed out last week, has there been a single question asked regarding the carbon footprint of Mr. and Mrs. Obama flying separate planes to Copenhagen last week?  I don’t think so.

President Obama is the sweetheart of the National Education Association other teacher unions.  He gives them whatever they want.  And they want the exaltation of public education over any other form – home schooling, private schools, vouchers, magnet schools, and more.  His administration stands to punish anyone (in the form of taxes) who chooses not to attend public school.  But where do his girls get their education?  Again, as Mark Levin points out, It seems that while public education is sufficient for the rest of us, it isn’t for the Obama girls.  They attend one of the most elite private schools in the country.

Indeed, President and Mrs. Obama are a product of the very system they attack.  President Obama came from a middle class upbringing with little money to spend on education.  But because of scholarships and goodwill, he was able to attend the most prestigious educational institution in our country.  He worked hard in school, and was able to go back to Chicago to work and start a family.  After working hard and gaining some notoriety in Chicago, he was able to begin a short career in politics which, at the very least, prematurely led to the White House.  Michelle’s story is much the same.

Here is a story of a couple who worked hard, applied themselves in school, and built themselves into an upper class existence with the most elite of Chicago.  And yet Obama’s actions suggest that he believes capitalism doesn’t work?  He feels that the “neighborly” thing to do is force those of us that do work to pay higher taxes so that the money we earn can be redistributed to someone else?  I’ve got news – there is nothing neighborly about forced goodwill in the form of taxes.  And now the President seems hell-bent on destroying the very system that gave him the life he so much enjoys.

I don’t really appreciate him taking my date-night money and giving it to someone else when he gets to have date night on the American tax dollar.  The whole thing is hypocrisy at the highest level.
