Girl Scouts move: too many sex offenders in the neighborhood

The Silver Sage Girl Scouts in Twin Falls, Idaho, are moving their headquarters because they discovered that 50 sex offenders live within one mile of their current location.

The problem is, there's no place for them to move. Their new location, it turns out, is smack dab in the middle of 23 registered sex offenders. We clearly must do something more permanent with sex offenders - either lock them up for life or put them to death if they are guilty of the rape of a child. If either sex offenders or the Girl Scouts have to be inconvenienced, I vote for sex offenders.

I see nothing wrong with locking up a rapist (and not just of a child). But someone who takes a leak outside? You've got to be kidding!

Child molesters should be executed!!! Why allow them to be free and destroy more children's lives and why spend taxpayer dollars keeping them alive in prison?

But for the grace of God there go you. I did 5 years in the State Prison. It was later shown in court that I was not guilty of one single thing I was charged with. I was told that if I did not plead guilty they would hurt my children and students like nothing I had yet seen. Yet I remain on the "list" and all that attends it. The years and the money to fight it would completely destroy us and we have lost enough. It happened to me-it could happen to you-trial by media! I know from first-hand experience that there is a witch-hunt (and attendant burning) occurring. Many feel like it is their duty to cast the first gallon of gasoline. The recidivism rate for SO's is less than one half of one percent in my state and the national average is 3%-whereas the recidivism rate for all "criminals" is in the 90%s. Witches and more witches! Whatever!

Sometimes the "registered sex offense" is an 18 y/o boy having sex with his 17 y/o girlfriend. Biblically the boy is wrong, but should he be legally punished for life? If we are going to take draconian measures, we must ensure that it is only for draconian crimes. The length of the time someone is on the offenders list should be based on the severity of the crime (misdemeanor vs. felony, 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree, etc.) and the number of repeat offenses. As it is right now, a person with one offcense as a 4th degree misdemeanor is on the list just as long as a serial 1st degree rapist. This is not justice.

What's missing in the article. Is one group of sexual perverts concerned about another group getting to their victims. Look it up - the Girl Scouts is run by lesbians. Buying cookies supports the homosexual agenda and Planned Parenthood - if you dig deep enough you can find it on their own web site. Look for alternatives for your daughters - American Heritage Girls or Keepers of the Home are 2 examples.

The problem is, most sex offenders have never even committed rape. Some of these sex offenders happen to be children who send naked pictures of themselves to their boyfriend or girlfriend with their cellphones. You want to put a child like that to death or in prison for the rest of their life? You've got to stop generalizing that sex offenders are all like Roman Polanski. The7Sticks

We need to get a real handle on pornography and put the key purveyors, profiteers, and distributors behind bars. Nab a sex offender, and invariably, his living quarters and his computer are full of porn. Pornography is addictive. These guys then seek out live victims. There needs to be a grassroots groundswell of outrage over this situation.

It is true that some sex offenders were labled as such after commission of crimes other than raping a child. I know of one young man who, at 18, had consensual sex with his 15 year old girlfriend. The parent found out and had him charged with statutory rape and he was labed a sex offender. While I don't agree with what the kids did, neither do I agree with what the parents and the court did. True sex offenders are the ones to worry about, yet how do we tell who is who? The level, such as 1,2,or 3 is an indicator, yet not of the crime itself. There needs to be another rating system that gives the public much more info.

In this country men are considered guilty until proven guilty, these are not child abusers these are people that commited crimes against women, and some of these are innocent except that the stigma that they are men are what they are guilty of

The problem is that 99% or more of those "so called" sex offenders have never raped a child and never would. They are labeled sex offenders for other sex related crimes, some of which are relatively minor. But the media has successully convinced the public that the definition of a sex offender is a child rapist, which is just not true. They also scare the public with the myth of stranger-danger. It has been proven that well over 90% of victims know their perpetrater.
