Ok. We all have mixed feelings about what has happened at Ft Hood in Texas over the past 24 hours. And first let me saw that we need to pray for the families of the victims, and for ALL of our brave men and women serving abroad and domestically. This is a HUGE blow to morale. Having lived on a military installation, I know about the sense of security that one has. That has been taken away from them today by a madman. An Islamic madman.
What I find surprising is the statements that the former leader of a Maryland mosque who knew Nidal Malik Hasan had to say.
From My Santantion: "Khan said he was shocked and dismayed to find the person suspected in the incident was his old friend."
"Khan said he wanted people to understand Islam condemns the killing of innocent people."
Khan also goes on to say:
"Islam does not teach us to kill. This is something that is condemned by the Quran. You can't really kill anyone like that, innocent people. That's not what Islam preaches about."
Really? Is there another Islam out there that I haven't heard about? Because I could have sworn that he said Islam teaches people not to kill the innocent....Nope, I didn't misread it. Let's see now:
Kill the disbelievers wherever we find them. (Sura 2:191)
Make war on the infidels who dwell around you. (Sura 9:123)
Prophet, make war on the infidels. (Sura 66:9)
The infidels are your sworn enemies. (Sura 4:101)
Apologists for the Nation of Islam will often point to the Crusades or the Inquisition and try to backhand the tennis ball of violence at the Christians. The problem is that the Crusades were in response to the continuing advancement of the Muslim empire during that time period. The Inquisitions have no real valid explanation, and are pretty much inexcusable.
But let me put it to you this way: The inquisition lasted between ~1540-1700.
During that time period, so far we have come to a death toll of ~1080.
On September 11, 2001, 3,000 people lost their lives on ONE DAY.
Who is a religion of peace?
