This video is about a month old, but as Hot Air points out is well worth a replay. In this video Jane Sturm tells President Obama about her mother who had a pacemaker implanted at 100 years of age, but was actually denied this care by the first doctor she went to. She sought out another doctor and eventually got the surgery because the doctor admired her spirit.
“Outside the medical criteria,” Sturm asked, “is there a consideration that can be given for a certain spirit … and quality of life?”
“I don’t think that we can make judgments based on peoples’ spirit,” Obama said. … “Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking painkillers.“
