This interview is a mixture of misinformation and fear-mongering. Bottom line: there already are rules which require counseling - which of course in not done in "Washington" but in the doctor's office or the hospital. Apparently neither this "expert" nor Ex-Sen. Thompson know anything about the current regs. Bottom line2: some treatments are not appropriate for the elderly, as such procedures are extraneous to an existing life-threatening condition.(Why should the public pay for these? Why should the elderly not be informed of the option of simply avoiding the pain of a near-useless treatment?) Let's stop the hysteria and stick to the facts. Our current health care system is too expensive to maintain. Too much private and public money goes to middle-players (ins companies)rather than to providers of care. RBC
