AARP ramps up support for ObamaCare with TV/Radio ads

Although the AARP says it is not "officially" endorsing President Obama's healthcare reform, it is conducting a huge and costly television ad campaign in support of ObamaCare and hosted the president at an online forum recently to promote his agenda to AARP members.

On its website, AARP says, "We share the President's commitment to act this year…" and "We look forward to working with leaders of both parties, including the President…"

AARP even developed a dedicated website to help promote the president's agenda. See this national television ad by AARP using scare tactics to promote ObamaCare. (This clip requires the new Adobe Flash Player). The website states specifically states, "AARP members will visit their representatives and senators in their district offices and attend events in support of health care reform."

FOX News network reported about 60,000 seniors have quit AARP since July 1 due to the group's support for health care reform.

Take Action!

• Send an e-mail to AARP letting them know you don't agree. If you are a member, consider what others are doing - cancel your membership. AARP is clearly using membership dues to help push ObamaCare.

• Forward this information to others so they can see how AARP is spending their dues in promoting ObamaCare.

• American Seniors Association (ASA) is an alternative we suggest you check out. AFA does not officially endorse ASA, but simply offers it as a conservative alternative to AARP. By the way, ASA is offering any senior that sends in a torn AARP card a special deal that provides them with a two-year membership for the price of one year.

Thank you for keeping me informed. I have never been a great supporter of AARP before, but I am now. I'm glad to see a bipartisan organization stand up for what will benefit their members without getting involved in the myths surrounding the debate.

Why are you supporting Obama in the Healthcare issue.I've been a member of AArp for 20 years, and just don't understand. First, the plan will get rid of my advantage plan. Why would you want to support that? It definitely doesn't do anything for Seniors. He just wants to kill us all. May God have mercy on his soul. His day will come.

Where was the AARP when Bill Clinton was changing the law so that Social Security could be taxed. I don't see where they care for the Seniors at all.

Thank you, for keeping us informed and up to-date about issues. I used to think the AARP cared for all of us and were watching out for us but that was a BIG FAT LIE. They are selling out the seniors in order to get more business in their health care. We need to look to our Lord and Savior and pray that He will keep us safe.

AARP is not too big to fail either, is it? They are on their way down if they support this health care. Senior adults cannot keep supporting them if they do.

I certainly hope you are not selling the folks out that keep you in business. I certainly do not favor this health care plan and as a representative for the old folks, I would hope you weren't either. America can not take care of everyone. The Bible clearly tells us that we will always have the poor among us. Does that mean that we are not suppose to help them? No, but we can't keep handing out when they make no effort to get up off their back side and do what the rest of us have done for years and that is take care of ourselves.

Thank you. I knew about this, have sent AARP an email telling them they should truly be ashamed of themselves (and why), and told them to cancel my subscription, refunding my dues on a prorated basis. I also cut up my AARP card and sent it to ASA. Your article eloquently confirmed what I knew to be true.

Although I am TOTALLY opposed to what AARP is doing, I have a Life Membership. I won't cancel because I still find out what they are doing and I am not contributing to AARP! Please consider some other members may be in the same situation.

I will cancel my membership and advise all the seniors I know to do the same, if AARP continues to speak out of both sides of their mouth on Obama's health care. AARP is supposed to help Seniors,not knife them in the back!!!!

You can make that 60,002 that have dropped membership in AARP; this past week, I sent them their renewal form for the next year and let them know that due to their supporting Obamacare, my husband and I would never again join AARP and their mail to us would be thrown in our trash as soon as we received it!

I quit AARP several years ago and when they asked me why I wanted out I told them that their outlook was FAR TOO LIBERAL for me. I have had nothing to do with them since. Their magazine is so liberal it drips with it and disgusted me everytime I tried to read it. Everyone who has any commonsense would get as far away from them as possible.

Dear AFA/AFR friends; It is a 5 star rated article and I have now joined ASA as an alternates membership to my AARP membership of 19 years!
